CSERP TEST PLOT INFORMATION
The goals of the CSERP are to cost effectively reduce the overall impact of swine facilities on their surrounding environments and improve overall pig performance.
The CSERP liquid manure treatment includes maintaining a target pH of 7.4.The CSERP test plot compares treated and untreated manure, and commercial fertilizers as plant foods. The CSERP test plot also compares net revenues generated.
The CSERP test plot consists of four areas.
· Areas 1 and 4 received commercial fertilizer.
· Area 2 received treated manure at the rate of 5200 gal/ac.
· Area 3 received untreated manure at the rate of 6500 gal/ac.Prior to application, the manure was analyzed at A & L Great Lakes Labs.
The treated manure yielded 40lbs N, 7lbs P, 23lbs K, 0.1 lbs Mn per 1000 gal
The untreated manure yielded 30lbs N, 15lbs P, 22lbs K, 0.1 lbs Mn per 1000 gal
Per acre commercial fertilizer application rates and costs are as follows (Areas 1 & 4):
· Preplant: 100 lbs 46-0-0 @ $265/ton=$13.25
100 lbs 0-0-60 @ $165/ton=$8.25
100 lbs 18-46-0 @ $250/ton=$12.50Application = $2.50
· Post-emergance side dress: 170 lbs anhydrous ammonia @ $400/ton=$34.00Application = $9.00
· Total = $91.39 per acre· Treated : 208 lbs N, 36.4 lbs P, 119.6 lbs K, 0.52 lbs Mn - $36.40
· Untreated: 195 lbs N, 97.5 lbs P, 143 lbs K, 0.65 lbs Mn - $45.50Per Acre Net Income Comparison
· Area 1 net income: 188.3 bu/ac x $2.00/bu - $91.39 (fertilizer) = $285.21
· Area 2 net income: 181.4 bu/ac x $2.00/bu - $36.40 (manure app.) = $326.40
· Area 3 net income: 173.9 bu/ac x $2.00/bu - $45.50 (manure app.) = $302.30
· Area 4 net income: 171.4 bu/ac x $2.00/bu - $91.39 (fertilizer) = $251.41Notes: Actual area harvested = 3.3 acres/test plot – Total area harvested = 13.2 acres
